Anti-corruption

Integrity and transparency are important values for us and fighting against corruption is an essential part of our corporate strategy.

„Corruption is the abuse of entrusted power for private financial or non-financial gain. It diverts resources from their proper use, distorts competition and creates gross inefficiencies in both the public and private sectors. Corruption can occur in the form of bribery, bribe solicitation or extortion.” (International Chamber of Commerce 2013)

MOL Group as a multinational company is operating in several countries which are strongly affected by corruption risks. Integrity and transparency are important values for us and fighting against corruption is an essential part of our corporate strategy.

MOL Group respects guidance documents on anti-corruption like UN Global Compact (2000), OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (2011), United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) and takes into consideration suggestions of Transparency International, and the World Economic Forum Partnering Against Corruption Initiative (PACI). We are striving to implement them into our everyday business.

Our anti-corruption practices include the following:

  • anti-corruption standards are described in our Code of Ethics and Business Conduct.
  • procedures to be followed in case of assumed fraudulent co-operation, unfair market behavior are defined in the Procurement Handbook
  • ethics-related e-learning materials dealing, among other things, with anti-corruption issues are mandatory for all the employees having access to the intranet of MOL Group.
  • annual managerial presentation is obligatory about the ethical norms for all employees
  • all country chairmen – as part of their annual ethics related duties – have to report on the corruption-related risks of the given country they are working in and draw up relevant mitigation plans.
  • our ethical reporting system supports the handling of internal and external grievances was created. The EC Rules of Procedure is to define the rules applicable to ethical investigation procedures.
  • according to the Business Partner Code of Ethics MOL Group business partners shall commit themselves to conducting business free of any and all forms of corruption and fraud, including the rejection of propositions or attempts made in favour or on behalf of their employees or organisations and aiming at payment of unfair amounts. We are striving to make the Business Partners Code of Ethics part of every contract. If norms of the MOL Group Business Partners Code of Ethics are permanently and substantially breached, MOL Group will terminate its business cooperation with the business partner concerned.
