MOL's Supervisory Board member, John I. Charody, died at the age of 93

It is with great sadness to announce the passing away of Mr. John I. Charody, member of the Supervisory Board and the Audit Committee of MOL Plc., at the age of 93. Mr. John I. Charody joined the Supervisory Board in 2002 and made significant and valuable contribution to its work during nearly 20 years.

He was born in 1927as János Csarodai, in Budapest. Between 1953 and 1956, he worked at the Geophysical Institute of the Oil Exploration and Development Company. He moved to Australia in 1956, where he held leading positions at Bridge Oil Ltd., Aurora Minerals, Project Mining and several listed oil and mining companies. He was also Chief Executive Officer of Winton Enterprises Pty. Ltd. and Galina Investment International Consulting Company. John I. Charody has been a fellow of the Institute of Australian Directors since 1971 and the Australian Institute of Management since 1967, a Justice of the Peace since 1972.

In 1973, he was awarded the MBE by HM Queen for his services to Australia. In 1990, he was appointed to be Minister of Commerce in Budapest by the Federal Government of Australia with regional responsibilities in 12 countries.

In 1997, the President of the Republic of Hungary awarded him the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary for his services in fostering Australian-Hungarian financial and commercial relationships.

 

He was a Board Member of Pick Zrt., and Csányi Foundation. At MOL, he was elected a member of the Supervisory Board as of October 11, 2002 and was also elected member of the Audit Committee.
